Three GWAAC clothing banks receive bronze milestone awards from the BIU Group

Three Great Western Air Ambulance Charity clothing banks have received bronze milestone awards from the BIU Group.

The BIU Group milestone scheme rewards recycling sites which receive donations of over 600 bags of textiles and clothing.

Tesco Extra in Cirencester, Tesco Extra in Quedgeley and Morrisons in Tewkesbury have received bronze milestone awards for donations of over 600 bags. The three Gloucester sites have donated a total of 2,524 bags with the Tesco Extra in Cirencester receiving 1,101 bags. Our next milestone is the silver award which is awarded to clothing banks with over 1,200 bags!

For every bag donated the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity receives proceeds that help to keep the life-saving service in operation. Thanks to your donations we are closer to raising the £2.6 million we need each year to stay operational.

Since 2005, the BIU Group have been recycling unwanted clothing, shoes, household textiles and mobile phones which generates vital funds for charity partners like the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.

It is estimated that over 1 million tonnes of textiles are send to landfill each year; textiles that could be sold or recycled. Donating unwanted textiles is not only good for the environment but it also helps your local community by raises funds for charity.

Donating unwanted clothing and textiles is a simple but fantastic way to raise money for GWAAC! You can find your local GWAAC clothing bank using the BIU Group bank locator.
