Welcome to Great Western Air Ambulance

This is the official web site of the Great Western Air Ambulance

Since June 3rd 2008 there is a new shape in the skies above Bristol, Gloucestershire, Avon, North Somerset and Wiltshire.

Flying 5 days each week, initially, we are already providing a much needed resource utilising an advanced medical model by providing a pre-hospital trauma trained doctor and an air paramedic trained to critical care standard and an aircraft packed with sophisticated equipment, our Eurocopter EC135 helicopter can, literally, bring the facilities of the “A&E Department” direct to the patient on-scene leading to increased outcomes for that patient.

However every penny of the £1.3 million that the charity needs to fund the aircraft each year will have to be raised within our community and we must rely on the generosity of the public-as we receive neither state or lottery fund aid.

Take a look at our site to see how you can help-by raising funds, shopping on-line, supporting the Evening Post The Skys the Limit £1.3 million appeal and by recycling your unwanted clothing, mobile telephones, plastics and cardboard. However you decide to help you will have our sincere thanks.

We are here for you-funded by you...
